Steve Wyrick stands at the forefront
of a new generation of illusionary artists. While
the popular magician is known for his over-the-top
magic, which includes a Hummer, an airplane, and
yes, even a death crane, his fondness for sleight-of-hand
magic also is evident in his performances. Although
audiences are wowed nightly as Wyrick is hoisted
some 40 feet into the air riding a motorcycle,
only to disappear within milliseconds, it is his
up-close and personal illusions that give this
Texas born magician the most satisfaction.
"It`s
amazing to see the faces of people when I`m performing
a card trick or making a coin appear inches away
from them," Wyrick says. "To see the
smallest feat create such a sense of awe is really
why I wanted to be a magician." Whether it
is a deck of playing cards, a piece of fruit or
even a tiny bird, Wyrick finds a way to involve
his audiences.
The charming magician has made
the all-new Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino his home
inside the Steve Wyrick Theatre. But during every
show, he also takes it to the streets, performing
his signature hand illusions at the front of the
resort on Las Vegas Boulevard to the amusement
of unsuspecting tourists.
Wyrick`s adventures
on the street are videoed back into the theater,
where the audience has been found laughing and
applauding at the action on the large viewing
screens. "It is, after all, a live performance
and I really never know what I might encounter,"
Wyrick notes. The amiable performer seems to take
it all in stride and enjoys the spectacle right
along with his guests.
Named "Magician of
the Year" by the International Magician`s
Society, Wyrick has made his mark on magic with
numerous television specials and has performed
the world over, from an audience of the president
and first lady to arenas in Japan.
Steve Wyrick`s
mind-blowing magic can be seen at 7pm and 9pm nightly
at the Aladdin Resort inside the Steve Wyrick
Theatre on the mezzanine level (dark Fridays).
