Legends in Concert, the original
celebrity tribute spectacular, excites crowds
six nights per week at the Imperial Palace Hotel
& Casino.
Featuring live re-creations of superstars of
yesterday and today, and backed by a live orchestra,
Legends in Concert is one of the few productions
in Las Vegas to complete an entertainment grand
slam.
Since its debut at the Imperial Palace on May
5, 1983, where it was booked for a six-week run,
it has earned Show of the Year and Entertainers
of the Year awards, plus was named Show of Shows
by the International Press Association.
In mid 1989, Legends received more acclaim by
becoming the first Las Vegas show to appear on
Broadway.
But Legends gained international stature in November
1991, when it became the first Las Vegas show
to tour the Russian cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg
and Riga.
Twenty-two years later, Legends In Concert maintains
its weekly, six-night run in the Imperial Theatre.
The live re-creations of such greats as Elvis
Presley, The Four Tops, Ritchie Valens, Buddy
Holly, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., the Righteous
Brothers and many more, appeal to music fans of
all ages.
In late 1989, the show injected more pizzazz
by also paying tribute to the superstars of today
with re-creators of Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney,
Cher, Madonna, Tom Jones and Barbra Streisand
to name a few.
All this becomes possible with an extravagant
display of multi media special effects that transform
the 850 seat Imperial Theatre into an exciting
arena of entertainment.
The formula is surely a success because audiences
have discovered that seeing Legends in Concert
once is not enough. Cast members are rotated on
a regular basis, making each show a new experience
and even more appealing.
From rock-n-roll to ballads, the music of the
superstars of yesterday and today, through their
re-creators, makes Legends in Concert a must see
show in Las Vegas.
The producers of Legends in Concert are careful to cast performers who capture not only the sound of the artist they are portraying but also their look and feel.
Over the show’s 20-year history, the scope of the celebrities has been expanded to include today's stars as well as those of the past.
The headlining entertainers change every few months allowing for an ever evolving roster including a segment with the crowd-pleasing Elvis Presley. When new headliners are phased in, the songs and dance routines also change. The Terry Ryan Orchestra and the talented "Legends" dancers provide strong support to the featured performers in "Legends in Concert."
