When Carrot Top takes the stage in the Atrium Showroom at the Luxor Hotel Casino, in
front of his endless number of trunks, he turns
the audience into Pandora, curious for what`s inside.
But no evil spills out from these boxes -- only
props -- the contents of Carrot Top`s wild imagination.
The red-haired comedian turns the stage into
a one-man circus, sharing the creative contents
as a video screen behind him and well-timed music
punctuate his every thought. As the ringleader
frenetically runs back and forth on stage, the
audience is left wondering what he`ll be pulling
out and what he`ll think of next. From a variety
of microphones -- including Whitney Houston`s,
which is attached to a bong, to Rush Limbaugh`s,
which easily dispenses pills -- no subject is
sacred to the AT&T pitchman.
Taking the top headlines and interpreting them
in his own way, Carrot Top shares his creations,
from Martha Stewart`s prison-striped apron to
Michael Jackson`s witness in a high chair. However,
the American Comedy Award winner for the Best
Male Stand-Up doesn`t discriminate. Celebrities,
rednecks, Las Vegas and even the comedian himself
are at the mercy of his creativity, as everything
and everyone are fair game to the self-deprecating
comic.
The ever-observant performer points out the irony
of a stolen Crime Watch sign and the countless
number of cornbread references in country songs.
The comedian also gives a nod to others on the
Strip, performing his version of the Bellagio
fountains using two spray bottles and also re-enacting
Blue Man Group, complete with a blue mask and
toilet paper.
Whether he`s paying tribute to rock stars by
dancing and lip-synching or sharing his version
of an Amish blow-dryer, it`s evident Carrot Top`s
trunks are full of everything but evil, like Pandora`s,
yet he readily admits, "It`s mean, but it`s
funny as s*%t." And nobody in the audience
can disagree.
